The Netherlands has pledged $500 million, to be disbursed over 10 years, to the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF). This facility was created to fund the long-term conservation of tropical forests.
The TFFF, launched by Brazil in November 2025, is a partnership between tropical countries, investors, and donor countries. It aims to create a $125 billion endowment fund. Current pledges to the TFFF total approximately $7.8 billion. The model is similar to a sovereign wealth fund, where investment gains are distributed to tropical countries to incentivize forest preservation over development activities like logging, mining, and ranching.
