Wayan Wardika has launched Indonesia’s sole firefly conservation initiative, Bring Back the Light, on Bali in an effort to restore dwindling firefly populations. The project focuses on breeding fireflies for release into the wild and emphasizes the importance of habitat protection.
Wardika is also encouraging local farmers to adopt organic practices and eliminate chemical use. These efforts aim to create a sustainable environment where firefly numbers can increase. Firefly populations in Southeast Asia, including Bali, are declining due to habitat loss, light pollution, pesticide use, and climate change.
