Brazil is experiencing a surge in data center development, largely driven by renewable energy companies. Analysis revealed that 65% of requests to connect data centers to the main power grid came from renewable energy firms, considering plans submitted to the Ministry of Mines and Energy through December 2025.
By December 2025, 68 connection requests for data centers were reported across 37 Brazilian municipalities. The substantial electricity needs of data centers, coupled with Brazil’s predominantly renewable energy mix, make it an attractive location for such investments, according to the Minister of Mines and Energy.
