The pilgrimage town of Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district has been flooded after 14 hours of torrential rain caused the Mandakini river to overflow. The river is flowing nearly 8 to 9 metres above the danger mark, which is a 23-year record.
Ramghat is completely submerged, with waters inundating shops along the ghat. NDRF and SDRF teams are conducting rescue operations. The district administration has urged residents to stay away from the river and follow official instructions. Waterlogging has also occurred in religious sites like Arogyadham and Gupt Godavari.
