Christiana Figueres Receives Inaugural Jane Goodall Earth Medal

Christiana Figueres, former executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), has been named the recipient of the inaugural Jane Goodall Earth Medal. The award is given by the board of the Starmus Festival to honor individuals who “unite science, courage and responsibility.”

Jane Goodall, a renowned primatologist and conservationist, passed away in October 2025 at the age of 91. The Jane Goodall Earth Medal was conceived by Starmus co-founder Garik Israelian, along with advisory board members Brian May and Peter Gabriel. The upcoming Starmus Festival, scheduled for Oct. 17-22 in Spain, will focus on the theme “The Search for Truth.”
