The default steam-energy value is only a placeholder for a practical estimate. Actual steam energy content depends on steam pressure, temperature, condensate return conditions and the energy basis used.
This calculator intentionally does not estimate trap leakage from steam pressure alone. Actual leak rate depends on trap type, failure mode, orifice condition, differential pressure and operating state.
For energy-audit use, obtain leak rate from trap testing, ultrasonic surveys, discharge measurements or a defensible engineering estimate.
