Solar
Solar Inverter Size Calculator
Estimate the inverter size required for your electrical load, including allowance for motor or compressor starting surge.
W
Add the wattage of appliances that may run at the same time.
W
Enter the running wattage of the largest refrigerator, pump, AC compressor or other motor expected to start while on the inverter.
%
Defaults are starting assumptions and can be edited where equipment specifications are known.
Suggested Standard Inverter Size

Select an inverter with at least this continuous rating and confirm that its surge rating meets the requirement below.

Minimum Surge Capability
—
How it is calculated:
Design running load = total running load × (1 + safety margin).
Continuous inverter requirement in kVA = design running load ÷ power factor ÷ 1,000.
Where a motor or compressor is entered, estimated starting load =
total running load + additional motor starting demand.
Starting demand is shown separately because inverter surge capability is usually specified independently from its continuous rating.
