How it is calculated: Panels connected in series add voltage while current remains the same. Array Vmp = panel Vmp × panels in series. Array Voc = panel Voc × panels in series. Parallel strings add current while voltage remains unchanged. Array Imp = panel Imp × parallel strings. Array Isc = panel Isc × parallel strings. Total panels = panels in series × parallel strings. Approximate operating DC power = array Vmp × array Imp. Final inverter compatibility should also be checked against the manufacturer’s MPPT voltage range, maximum DC voltage and input-current limits.
