Pipe Flow Rate Calculator

Calculate water flow rate from pipe diameter and average flow velocity.

Use the actual internal diameter of the pipe.

Method: Pipe cross-sectional area = π × diameter² ÷ 4. Flow rate = cross-sectional area × average flow velocity. The calculator converts the entered diameter to metres and velocity to metres per second before calculating flow. This calculation assumes a completely full circular pipe and uses the average velocity across the pipe section. Actual system flow can differ due to pressure, pipe roughness, fittings, elevation, pump characteristics and partially full pipe conditions.
