This method assumes that the entered specific power reasonably represents the incremental electrical energy required to supply the leaked air.
Real compressed-air systems may not respond linearly to reduced leakage. Fixed-speed load/unload compressors, sequencing controls, storage volume, pressure setpoints and minimum unloaded power can all affect actual savings after leaks are repaired.
For energy-audit use, measured leak flow and measured compressor-system specific power over the same operating condition provide the most defensible estimate.
