Physical activity paradox: some exercise raises dementia risk, review finds

A major review published in The Lancet Public Health suggests a paradox in physical activity and dementia risk. Leisure activities such as sports, dancing, gym workouts, and housework were linked to a lower dementia risk.

Conversely, physically demanding jobs were associated with a 20% increased risk of dementia, and active commuting showed a 10% higher risk. Researchers propose that factors including education levels, exposure to pollution, and unequal access to leisure time might explain these differing outcomes.
