Several parts of central, northern, and eastern India are anticipating intense rainfall due to active weather systems, including a low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for Madhya Pradesh due to the risk of extremely heavy rainfall, severe waterlogging, and flooding.
Eastern Uttar Pradesh is also under an orange alert, with flash floods possible across several districts. West Bengal and Sikkim may receive very heavy rainfall, increasing concerns about flooding and landslides in mountainous and riverine areas. Northern Indian states including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand could also experience heavy showers, with potential for landslides and traffic disruptions in hilly regions.
The unsettled weather is accompanied by a risk of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across multiple states. Farmers have been advised to protect crops and ensure proper drainage. Authorities and residents are urged to remain cautious and monitor weather conditions closely.
