India braces for monsoon onset, northern states face storms and hail

India is anticipating a significant weather shift with the approaching northeast monsoon over South India and storm threats across northern states. Thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hailstorms are forecast for parts of northern India on October 14 and 15.

Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh may experience hailstorms, lightning, and winds up to 50 kilometers per hour. This weather activity could damage crops and infrastructure. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh are expected to see rainfall, lightning, and strong winds. The northeast monsoon is likely to begin over southern India within two to three days, influenced by a developing low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal.
