A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is causing heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across parts of eastern, central, and northern India, leading to flash flood alerts. Chhattisgarh is facing the most serious weather threat, with warnings of sudden flooding in several districts.
Northern Odisha’s districts are also under close watch for flash flood risks, accompanied by strong winds. Heavy rainfall is expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Madhya Pradesh, with potential for waterlogging and flooding.
The Himalayan region, including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, faces concerns over flash floods, landslides, and disrupted roads due to intense rainfall. Farmers have been advised to ensure field drainage and protect harvested crops. Concerns also exist regarding temperature contrasts across the country, with some regions experiencing above-normal temperatures.
