A group of Egyptian boarding school students from Giza, in the Greater Cairo region, are employing robotics for environmental protection. Their initiative aims to create more intelligent and adaptive strategies for safeguarding the Earth.
The students are focusing on a creature known as the mudskipper for their project. Mudskippers are amphibious fish notable for their ability to thrive both in aquatic and terrestrial environments. These fish are typically found in muddy habitats.
These unique creatures construct tunnels in the mud using their mouths. This behavior allows them to create air pockets, which are essential for maintaining adequate oxygen levels within their burrows. The students’ robotic approach seeks to emulate or assist in these vital natural processes.
