Deep depression brings heavy rain alert to four Indian states; Delhi-NCR hotter

A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to cause extremely heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for thunderstorms and strong winds in these areas, with isolated regions potentially receiving over 204.5 millimetres of rain.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana may also experience thunderstorms with wind speeds up to 60 kilometres per hour. The system is forecast to make landfall near Kalingapatnam on the night of September 23. In contrast, Delhi-NCR is predicted to remain dry and sunny, with temperatures around 36 degrees Celsius. The monsoon withdrawal is also expected to advance across northern India in the coming days.

Fishermen have been advised to avoid rough seas due to strong winds expected in parts of the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Farmers in affected areas are urged to protect harvested crops and ensure proper drainage. Authorities are advising residents to monitor weather warnings and exercise caution.
