However, a report from the Oakland Institute contends that “transition minerals” are misnamed. The analysis indicates that the majority of these minerals are utilized in industries unconnected to, or in opposition to, the clean energy transition. The demand for these minerals is reportedly increasing due to artificial intelligence and heightened military spending, sectors that drive ecological destruction.
