The flood situation in Bihar has become increasingly critical, with rivers like the Ganga, Gandak, Punpun, and Kosi flowing at dangerous levels. This inundates residential areas, roads, and villages across multiple districts, disrupting transport and access to essential supplies for thousands of families. Areas such as Bhagalpur, Munger, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, and Patna are experiencing significant difficulties.
Authorities have established relief camps and are using boats for aid delivery, but challenges remain in providing adequate food, shelter, and sanitation. Meanwhile, Bihar’s meteorological center has issued a yellow alert for 19 districts, warning of rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds, particularly in northern parts of the state.
Heavy rainfall is also expected in eastern and northeastern India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Sikkim. Parts of eastern Madhya Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh could also receive heavy rain. Conversely, monsoon activity is weakening over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and parts of Uttar Pradesh, leading to gradually drier conditions in some northern areas.
Delhi-NCR may see reduced rainfall with partly cloudy skies and potentially warmer, more humid conditions. Farmers have been advised to protect harvested crops, manage field drainage, and avoid outdoor work during severe weather events.
