More than 20 Indian states are under threat of heavy rainfall, with a low-pressure area over Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh expected to cause widespread rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
Madhya Pradesh faces an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, with potential for waterlogging and flash floods in low-lying areas and near rivers. Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan are also forecast to experience intense rainfall, increasing risks of sudden flooding and rapid water level rises in streams and small rivers.
Heavy rainfall is also anticipated in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and northeastern states, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Southern India is expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning with winds reaching up to 50 kilometers per hour.
Despite the rainfall, temperatures remain above normal in several regions. Farmers and residents have been advised to take precautions against potential flooding, thunderstorms, and lightning.
