India is experiencing a mix of extreme weather as a new low-pressure system is likely to form over the northwestern Bay of Bengal, bringing very heavy rainfall to Odisha. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Odisha, with some areas potentially receiving between 115.5 mm and 204.4 mm of rain.
Existing weather systems are also expected to cause heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Several northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura, are forecast to receive heavy rainfall.
Despite increased rainfall activity in many regions, temperatures remain unusually high. Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan recorded the highest maximum temperature on the plains at 41.4°C. Farmers are advised to take precautions against waterlogging, strong winds, and heavy rain, including ensuring proper drainage and protecting crops.
