Method: Thermal Power = Waste Mass Flow x Lower Heating Value Electrical Power = Thermal Power x Electrical Efficiency For waste entered in tonnes per day: Mass Flow in kg/s = tonnes/day x 1000 / 86400 When heating value is entered in MJ/kg: kg/s x MJ/kg gives MW of thermal input directly. Annual electricity generation = Electrical Power x Operating Hours per Year Electricity per tonne is calculated from the waste energy content and electrical efficiency. This is a screening calculator. Actual waste-to-energy output depends on waste composition, moisture content, plant parasitic loads, boiler efficiency, steam-cycle performance, availability and operating conditions.
