How it is selected: Total panels are estimated from solar plant capacity ÷ panel wattage. The calculator tests equal-length series/parallel arrangements using all panels. Minimum panels per string are determined from the inverter minimum MPPT voltage and panel Vmp. Maximum panels per string are limited using panel Voc and the inverter maximum DC voltage. Where multiple configurations are possible, preference is given to more panels in series and fewer parallel strings, while remaining inside the entered voltage limits. This is a preliminary configuration estimate. Final inverter compatibility should also be checked against the manufacturer’s MPPT operating range, input-current limits, cold-weather Voc limits and permitted string connections.
