A remarkable discovery has been made in the underground waters of Assam, where scientists have identified a new species of fish, Gitchak nakana. This tiny blind loach possesses a distinctive translucent, skull-roofless head, a unique characteristic that sets it apart.
The newly identified species was found living in a single dug-out well, highlighting the hidden biodiversity within subterranean aquatic environments. Researchers have classified Gitchak nakana as representing an entirely new genus and species.
