Local gram panchayats in Loni Kalbhor and Kadamwakvasti have been found to be in violation of solid waste management regulations. Reports indicate a failure to curb the unscientific dumping and burning of mixed solid waste.
This practice has resulted in the generation of foul fumes, leading to violations of air quality standards. The contamination has been specifically noted near MIT College. Furthermore, the dumping and burning activities have led to the continued contamination of the riverbanks of the Mula-Mutha river.
These actions are in clear breach of established Solid Waste Management Rules. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has reported these significant environmental lapses.
