The consequence of this widespread heat stress is the rendering of outdoor work unsafe for many, directly impacting their earning potential and slashing incomes. This situation is exacerbated by a growing concern over rising heat stress.
Analysis indicates that the escalating heat stress is a direct result of global warming. Furthermore, a likely Super El Niño event is contributing to these extreme conditions. These combined factors pose a significant threat to the livelihoods of farm workers and, consequently, to the nation’s food security.
