Cyclone Murasu is forecast to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast on the night of November 2–3, with winds gusting to 120 km/h. This follows less than a week after Cyclone Arnab killed seven people and caused an estimated Rs 4,600 crore in damage.
Red alerts have been issued for extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh, with neighboring states also facing heavy rain. The state government has announced compensation for families of those killed by Cyclone Arnab and for farmers whose crops were damaged. Preliminary damage assessments from Arnab have been submitted to the central government.
