A coalition of 57 nations, largely from the Global South, has convened to organize around phasing out fossil fuels. This group, self-described as a “coalition of the willing,” aims to create road maps for transitioning away from fossil fuels, a movement also referred to as TAFF.
The inaugural TAFF summit took place in the Colombian city of Santa Marta from April 24-29, 2026. This gathering, also known as the “Santa Marta Coalition,” brought together nations focused on advancing this critical environmental objective. The participants are committed to developing practical strategies to facilitate the transition away from reliance on fossil fuels. This organized effort signifies a growing international commitment to addressing the challenges posed by fossil fuel dependency and moving towards more sustainable energy solutions.
